corkey – Your corkscrew on your bunch of keys

The idea of a completely new corkscrew design!

corkey is an elegant solution to open every bottle of wine, at any place – as corkey dangles on your bunch of keys, ready for use. It works quite simply: you just keep the cork of the last wine bottle as a reminder of corkey and you use the same cork as a grip for your corkscrew to open your next bottle of wine. Thus, corkey is the ideal companion on wine hiking tours, on your holidays, on festivals, simply always and everywhere. It is also airworthy, on your bunch of keys!

Developed since 2018, it took about one year until corkey finalized today's design. The founders Lukas Dümer and Christoph Pöhlmann, who live in Cologne, actually were searching for an ideal fixation for a cork on the bunch of keys. This automatically led to the solution to attach the cork on a corkscrew helix and this on the bunch of keys. The necessary loop for this was designed big enough so that a cork fits in. This way corkey was born – the first corkscrew that uses a cork as a grip.
 

Technical transformation:
corkey is manufactured from stainless steel in a German factory, that produces high-level quality corkscrews for customers such as Manufactum as well. The loop is standardized on 23cm, so that every cork fits in. Fresh corks are sitting tightly, older shrunken ones are sitting looser – however, it works all the time.
The corkscrew helix is just as long as a cork. Therefore, it is guaranteed that corkey works and that the helix doesn’t prick through the cork in parallel. Due to the cork the helix is saved as well as your trousers.
